While King Trumpet mushrooms are a part of the oyster family, their distinctive build makes them a very special fungus. You may have heard King Trumpets referred to as French Horn Mushrooms, eryngi, which is just short for its scientific name, pleurotus eryngii, or Trumpet Royale. They are sometimes referred to as King Mushrooms, but pay close attention to recipes or recommendations here, as the term King Mushroom also refers to the King Oyster—not to be confused with its very different cousin, the King Trumpet. King Trumpet Oyster Mushrooms are a chef’s favorite, with their dense, meaty texture, umami flavor, and cooking versatility. King Trumpets boast a thick meaty body that can be sliced or shredded into strips or bits for any number of recipes. It can also be grilled or roasted whole. When cooked, their fibers offer a mouthfeel akin to chicken breast, and their stock yields a rich flavor likened to chicken broth, making them an excellent substitute for meat in virtually any recipe.

We recommend storing between 40-75 degrees Fahrenheit in a safe, dry location and using within 30 days of receiving.
