Flavor and Texture: Brown Oysters (Pleurotus Pulmonarius) also known as "Italian Oyster" has a soft, inflated stem that cooks well with the cap. This meaty and earthy mushroom has the most "umami" flavor of the oysters with a nice velvety texture. Brown Oysters go well with any savory dish but some of our favorite ways to enjoy them is in gravies and soups.
Benefits: Like other oyster mushrooms, Brown Oysters offer many benefits. They contain virtually no cholesterol and provide compounds that are actually associated with lowering cholesterol levels. Brown Oysters are a great low-carb source of Magnesium, Potassium, Niacin, and even protein.

We recommend storing your mushrooms in the packaging they come in or transferring them to a paper bag. We do NOT recommend placing them in the crisper as this will speed up the aging process. Mushrooms need air flow, and our packaging provides that to help the shelf life and the freshness of the mushrooms. If your mushrooms dry out a little in the packaging, we like to suggest using them in soups or broths to get full use out of them.
